Rhiwbina Primary School
About The Project
The roofing works completed at Rhiwbina Primary School was completed for Cardiff County Council, as a part of our Roofing Framework Agreement. The work included the renewal of the pitched & flat roofs (pictured above). The existing Cambrian slate pitched roof was completely stripped, and a new Britmet 2000 system was installed on new felt and new treated batten, While the existing flat roof areas were overlaid using Alumasc’s Caltech QC liquid waterproofing system.
The roofing work at Rhiwbina Primary school was carried out throughout the winter months whilst the school remained live and in use, while this was challenging our onsite Site Manager liaised with the client daily to ensure smooth running of the site, resolving any issues or queries that arose. We were allocated a section of the rear playground to set up a compound, the compound was fully fenced off with Heras fencing to encapsulate the Welfare, Storage, and other materials.
The efficient communication was vital as the weather was difficult and the programme was tight. Work hours were adapted subject to school opening times and road closures, similarly any deliveries to site were scheduled before or after school hours due to the restricted access and live school.
